Helen Frankenthaler

“The bridge between Pollock and what was possible,” as Morris Louis once said; Helen Frankenthaler died this past December. I remember being introduced to her work when I was 17 and trying to paint (and failing) and trying (and failing) to think / about being / both embodied and beyond my body at once.
